Florence (Italy), 2 September (SPS) - The Daira of Mahbes in the wilaya of Smara (Sahrawi refugee camps) has renewed its twinning agreement with its counterpart, Sesto Fiorentino, in Tuscany, Italy.
The mayor of Sesto Fiorentino decided Sunday to renew the twinning with the Daira of Mahbes in in the wilaya of Smara, in the Sahrawi refugee camps, at the municipality's headquarters.
The signing ceremony was attended by the mayor of Sesto Fiorentino, as well as the representative of the Polisario Front in Italy and the Sahrawi representative in Tuscany.
The twinning agreement emphasizes the historical and strong relationship that dates back 40 years since the first twinning was signed in Italy. This agreement holds great significance within the framework of international solidarity and cooperation that the Sahrawi cause enjoys in Italy.
The renewed twinning between Sesto Fiorentino and the Daira of Mahbes aims to continue the relationship based on respect and cooperation, enhancing Sesto Fiorentino's position as an important player in local international relations.
It is worth noting that Italy has 336 municipalities twinned with Sahrawi municipalities, reflecting an increasing commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and mutual support between the Sahrawi and Italian peoples.
