Foreign Affairs, Media and Protocol Committee of National Council condemns Moroccan assault on Sahrawi ambassador in Tokyo

Shaheed El Hafed, August 25, 2024 (SPS) - The Foreign Affairs, Media and Protocol Committee of the National Council condemned the brutal assault by the Moroccan delegation on the ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic participating in the preparatory meetings for the Ministerial Meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on Development in Africa (TICAD).

The Committee highlighted that this criminal behavior, contrary to all moral and diplomatic values, reflects the true face of the Moroccan occupation regime and the state of despair it has reached after its failure to exclude the Sahrawi Republic from the bilateral partnership and cooperation meetings between the African Union and other organizations and countries.

The Foreign Affairs, Media and Protocol Committee of the National Council also emphasized that this blatant assault has enabled the world to observe that the Moroccan regime poses a threat to the dialogue and partnerships that link the African Union with various international actors, such as the partnerships between the continental organization and the League of Arab States, the European Union and other countries and regional groupings.
