Wilaya of Smara (Refugee Camps), 28 February 2024 (SPS) - The 24th edition of the Sahara Marathon kicked off today in the Sahrawi refugee camps, with over 200 runners from 20 countries around the world participating.
The Sahara Marathon is an annual sporting event that emphasizes solidarity with the Sahrawi people. It also carries several important messages, including the importance of sports and its role in maintaining health, and it serves as a means of expressing solidarity with the just Sahrawi cause.
During a presentation session for the 24th edition of the event, the organizers highlighted that the runners will participate in 42 km, 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km races. They expressed their confidence that the event will be a success and that it will meet the required standards.
