The President of the Republic embarks on a visit to the Republic of Ireland

Dublin (Ireland), February 15, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, embarked yesterday, Wednesday, on a visit to the Republic of Ireland.

In the first leg of the visit, the presidential delegation held a series of meetings with both chambers of the Irish Parliament, representatives of various political and trade union formations, civil society and the solidarity movement.

During these meetings, developments in the Sahrawi issue and ways to strengthen the Polisario Front’s relations with various Irish political formations were discussed, as well as prospects for future work, especially in the field of solidarity in Ireland, Europe and the rest of the world.

These parties renewed their positions of support for the right of the Sahrawi people to freedom, self-determination and independence, in line with respect for international law and international humanitarian law and the implementation of the Charter and relevant United Nations resolutions in Western Sahara.

The President of the Republic is accompanied on this visit, which is scheduled to continue on Thursday, by a delegation that includes members of the National Secretariat, Minister Advisor to the Presidency in charge of Diplomatic Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Ambassador-designate for Europe and European institutions, Mr. Omar Mansour, Representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, Advisor to the Presidency, Mr. Abdati Breika, Director of Protocol in the Presidency, Mr. Salha Al-Abd, and Representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland, Mr. Nafi Al-Rayes.
