New York, May 11, 2016 (SPS) - the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, has received a letter of thanks by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon.
´I wish to thank you for the warm hospitality extended to me during my visit on 5 March 2016. This visit allowed me to witness in person the dire humanitarian situation in the refugee camps. It was an experience which moved me profoundly.¨ UNSG said in his letter
Mr. Ban Ki-moon added that he is convinced that the in-depth discussions we held allow me better understand issues of the negotiation process on Western Sahara. I was also moved by the exchange held with the Sahrawi youth.
I wish to take this occasion to thank once more the Frente Polisario for its support of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), despite the significant challenges encountered during the course of the last few weeks. I am of the firm belief that we will overcome these challenges.SPS
