Vast cultural, historical program devoted to Sahrawi cause in Bern

Bern (Switzerland), 12 April 2016 (SPS) -A vast program of cultural and historical activities will take place during the solidarity week with the Sahrawi people, held in Bern by the Swiss committee for support to Sahrawi people (SUKS).
This cultural event has been inaugurated on Monday in the historic building of the old city of Bern (Kafigturm) by an exhibition of photos relating the struggle of the Sahrawi people entitled "Where are you?, Sahrawi people exiled since 40 years", with reference to the occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco since 1975.
Held in the presence of several African diplomatic delegations accredited in Switzerland, the event caught the interest of a large number of visitors and was marked by welcome speeches delivered by Professor Elizabeth Baschlin, president of the SUKS and Jean-Marie Ehouzou, representative of the Permanent Mission of the African Union (AU) to the UN in Geneva.
On Tuesday, Saharan texts entitled "History of tents" will be read by actress Mirjam Furrer.
As for Wednesday 13 April, a conference on "Western Sahara, an easily resolvable conflict...History of a prevented self-determination" will be hosted by Political pundit, international relation and foreign policies expert Werner Ruff from Kassel University.
On Thursday, a discussion panel entitled "Western Sahara, a mean to overcome impasse?" will be organized by Alex Gschwind, SRF, and legal correspondent for Iberia and North Africa (1985-2013), with the participation of Murezi Michael, loyal and expert in international mediation, and Hamdi MH. Salek, a young Sahrawi teacher in Schwerin.  
The event will wrap up Friday.SPS
