President of the Republic starts official visit to Cuba

Havana, May 26, 2017 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO, Brahim Gali, is exoected to arrive in Cuba on the occasion of an official visit during which he will hold official talks with the President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Raul Castro Ruz, and will carry out other activities.
 
Recently, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Marcelino Medina paid a visit to SADR and in his meeting with President Brahim Gali stressed Cuba's support for the struggle of the Saharawi people for their right to self-determination and independence.
 
On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, the President of the Republic, in a message congratulating his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro, reiterated the commitment of the Sahrawi Republic to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between the two Nations, stressing the importance of the legacy of Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, for the oppressed peoples of the world.
 
Cuba and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic established diplomatic relations in January 1980, and currently their main areas of collaboration are health, education and food supply.
 
The President of the Republic, Brahim Gali, will arrive in Havana after having participated in the presidential ceremony of transmission of power in the Republic of Ecuador, where he has been since Tuesday, invited by the highest governmental authorities of that Latin American country. SPS
