Algiers, 19 March 2022 (SPS) - Algeria has decided to summon its ambassador to Madrid for consultations, with immediate effect, following the statements of the Spanish highest authorities constituting a “sudden reversal” of position on the issue of Western Sahara, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Saturday in a communiqué.
“The Algerian authorities, astonished by the statements made by the Spanish highest authorities on the issue of Western Sahara and surprised at this sudden reversal of position of Western Sahara’s former administering power, have decided to summon their ambassador to Madrid for consultations with immediate effect,” said the source.
