Rabat, July 12, 2017. (SPS) - The trial of the Saharawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group has been postponed Tuesday to July 18 for the sixth consecutive time, media reported.
The sixth and final phase of the trial of the twenty-four Saharawi political prisoners started in the morning at the Criminal Chamber attached to annexe of the Court of Appeal in Sale (Morocco).
The defense of the civil party began to give its answers (22 points) to the lawyers of the detainees on testimonies. Only two points were presented, before the judge decides a further one-week postponement, according to Saharawi media, which consider this measure as a mean to prevent the presence of international observers and weaken the momentum of solidarity with the Saharawi detainees.
About 140 Sahrawi students on Sunday observed a sit-in at the University of Agadir, the largest in 5 years before organizing a demonstration in the main street leading to "Elwedd" square, media reported.
In Madrid (Spain), a solidarity action also took place for the second consecutive day in response to a call made by the Sahrawi Social Democratic Movement.
Solidarity sits-in were also held near the Court where the trial took place, challenging all forms of embargo imposed by the Moroccan authorities to silence the voices of support for the cause of the Sahrawi political detainees. SPS
