Luanda, June 11, 2016 (SPS) - New Sahrawi Ambassador Bah Mohamed Sheikh Deih handed Thursday his letters of credentials to the Angolan president, Mr. Eduardo Dos Santos, in his capacity as an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to the Republic of Angola.
On this occasion, the Angolan President expressed "profound" regret for the loss of the late Sahrawi President Mohamed Abdelaziz, conveying his condolences to the Saharawi people and the family of the deceased.
Mr. Dos Santos recalled the historical relations between Angola and SADR, reiterating the firm position of support of his country to the Saharawi people's struggle for freedom and independence.
For his part, the Saharawi Ambassador informed the Angolan President on the latest developments of the question of Western Sahara, particularly at the UN Security Council, and the Moroccan intransigence against international legitimacy.
He also praised the firm stand of the sister Republic of Angola in favour of the just Saharawi cause.
The ceremony of credentials presentation was attended from the Angolan part by Foreign Minister Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, advisors of the president and senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from the Sahrawi part by the Counsellor at the Embassy of the SADR in Luanda, Telleb Sadik.
