Chahid El Hafed, 14 Nov 2017 (SPS) - The solidarity platform with the Saharawi people called on Transavia Airlines to respect international law in Western Sahara and to cancel its service to the occupied city of Dakhla.
"You have just launched trips from Paris to Dakhla despite warnings from the United Nations, the African Union, governments and many associations. The city of Dakhla is not" located on the Moroccan coast "as in fact Dakhla does not fall under Moroccan sovereignty since it is located on the territory of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco since 1975, "wrote the platform in a letter to the CEO of Transavia Airlines CV.
"Organizing trips to this city is therefore a serious violation of international law and involves your civil and criminal liability," she warned, noting that no country in the world recognizes the sovereignty of Morocco in this territory as the specified the opinion of the International Court of Justice of The Hague of October 16, 1975. The judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union of December 21, 2016 confirmed that Western Sahara has a distinct and separate status from Morocco.
"In fact, by accepting or encouraging the organization of these trips to Dakhla, Morocco aims to recognize the fait accompli of the illegal occupation of this territory and makes you the objective accomplice," said the platform. SPS
