Quito (Ecuador), July 10, 2019 (SPS) - The Minister Delegate to Latin America, Mr. Omar Mansour, was received on Tuesday along with Sahrawi Republic Ambassador to Ecuador, Ali Salem Sid-zain Salim, by the President of the Ecuadorian National Assembly Mr. Thessar Litorado at the headquarter of the Ecuadorian Parliament.
Both parties has discussed the bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen it between the two countries as well as reinforcing ties between the Sahrawi and Ecuadorian parliaments.
The two sides broached the latest developments related to the Sahrawi people's struggle and their right to self-determination at the international level as well as the historic position of the Republic of Ecuador with the process of decolonization in Western Sahara under the supervision of the United Nations.
For his part, the President of the Ecuadorian National Assembly called for peace, expressing his willingness to contribute to the efforts in the search for political and peaceful solutions to international disputes.
The meeting was attended by Ecuadorian Ambassador Diego Morijon, former president of the UN Committee on Decolonization and the current coordinator of international relations at the Ecuadorian National Assembly, as well as human rights defender and president of the Ecuadorian Association for Friendship with the Sahrawi People Pablo de la Vega.
