Gdeim Izik Sahrawi political prisoners in Kenitra jail begin hunger strike of 48 hours

Kenitra (Morocco), Oct 27, 2017 (SPS) - Members of the group of Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik imprisoned in the Moroccan prison of Kenitra on Wednesday began a hunger strike of 48 hours in protest of the terrible conditions in which they are suffering.
Members of the group of Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik denounced, in a statement, "the inhumane conditions and threats they suffer inside the prison for their political convictions, which reject the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara."
The statement, which blames the Moroccan authorities for the consequences of its policies, says the group "will use all forms of peaceful protest to protest against violations of international humanitarian law committed by the State of Morocco."
On the other hand, the Sahrawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group appreciate "the solidarity of the human rights movements in the world and the Saharawi people for their unconditional solidarity and support" and call the Saharawi people to unity to overcome pitfalls imposed by the occupant's appliances.
Finally, the letter urges human rights organizations to press the Government of France to cease their support for the occupation of Morocco, which involves human rights violations and looting of the natural resources of Western Sahara. SPS
