Washington, March 02, 2018 (SPS) - The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights has condemned "strongly" the recent attempt of the Moroccan press to discredit the Sahrawi human rights defender Aminatou Haidar, regretting this assault that impugns the reputations of other human rights defenders and NGOs  in Western Sahara.
In a release published Tuesday the Kennedy Foundation condemned the "allegations" reported by the Moroccan site, le360.ma, according to which the activities of Aminatou Haidar and other Sahrawi defenders are financed by foreign parties to conduct "diverse actions of destabilization and turmoil" in the Sahrawi occupied territories.
"A recent article in a Moroccan publication is seeking to discredit Sahrawi human rights defender and Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award Laureate Aminatou Haidar by claiming that her human rights activities are inappropriately funded,"   Wrote the foundation, without referring to le360.ma.
The Kennedy Foundation "strongly condemns this assault on Haidar and other human rights defenders, and calls on Morocco to guarantee the rights to freedom of expression and association, in accordance with Morocco’s obligations as a State-party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights."
The US Foundation said that the article in question, based on a “confidential” document that is conspicuously omitted from publication "also impugns the reputations of other human rights defenders and NGOs."SPS
