El-Aaiun (Occupied Territories), 25 December 2017 (SPS) - The mother of the 15 Saharawi abductees has demanded the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Raad Al-Hussein, to intervene with the Moroccan authorities in order to reveal the whereabouts of their unaccounted-for sons since 25 December 2005.
In a letter to Mr. Raad Al-Hussein on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of their abduction, the mothers of the abductees regretted the lack of any reaction by the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to the disappearance of their son 12 years ago.
"As the world celebrates the New Year, the families of the kidnapped Sahrawis receive the 12th anniversary of their abduction, a black occasion because it reminds us of the nightmare of the disappearance of our children on this day in 2005, coinciding with the independence uprising that broke out in various cities of the occupation Western Sahara under Moroccan occupation," said the letter.
The events of the disappearance of the 15 young Sahrawis go back to 25 December 2005, where a group of Sahrawi families accused the Moroccan authorities of abducting their children, namely: Ali-Salem Lafdil, Mustapha Mohamed-Fadel Al-Yusefi, Khalihena Al-Bashir Al-Rais, Mohamed Al-Baithi, Sidi-Ahamed Abd-Wadud, Sadik Sidi-Ahmed Butengiza, Sidi-Brahim Al-Mokhtar Al-Yusefi, Abd-Rahman Sidi-Mahmoud Lakhlifi, Abd-Rahim Al-Semlali, Ahmed Azmir, Habib-lah Sidi-Mahmoud Lakhlifi, Laroussi Ambarek Al-Saweih, Ahmed Sidi Ahmed Lakwari, Said Larousi Akrita, and Lahib Al-Bakai Halab.
