Swedish Ambassador to Algeria asserts support to solution ensuring Sahrawi people right to self-determination

Algiers, July 25, 2016 (SPS) - Swedish Ambassador to Algeria Mrs. Carin Wall affirmed Sunday the position of Sweden on Western Sahara in support of a solution guaranteeing the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in line with the United Nations resolutions, during a reception by Ambassador to Algeria Bushraya Beyoun.
On this occasion, the Sahrawi Ambassador informed his Swedish counterpart about the latest developments related to the Sahrawi issue, obstacles placed by Morocco to evade UN resolutions to organize the self-determination referendum, return of the political component of MINURSO expelled by Morocco in violation of international legality, and participation of SADR in the 27 session of African Union summit held recently in Kigali, Rwanda.
Sahrawi Ambassador confirmed failure of Moroccan maneuvers and fallacies as a result to attachment of African Union to its principals and charter based on decolonization and respect of peoples’ right to freedom and independence.
Sweden has been elected recently as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, a country known for its advanced positions on Western Sahara, it should be recalled. (SPS)
