Shaheed Al Hafed, 6 February 2023 (SPS) - The Polisario Front called for an end to Morocco's dangerous aggressive practices, such as implicating foreign agendas that blatantly threaten peace, security and stability and push the region into the unknown.
In a statement at the end of the work of its first ordinary session, the National Secretariat of the Polisario stressed the responsibility of the UN Security Council to enable the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to complete its mission for which it was established, calling for an urgent end to Morocco's increasingly dangerous aggressive practices, especially through the flow of drugs, the encouragement and support of transcontinental organized crime gangs and terrorist groups, the heinous exploitation of African migrants and the implication of foreign agendas that blatantly threaten peace, security and stability and push the region into the unknown.
The National Secretariat reiterated its willingness to cooperate with the United Nations and the African Union to decolonize Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, and its rejection of any approach that ignores the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people, which is inalienable and non-negotiable, to self-determination and independence.
It also called on the African Union to urgently put an end to the flagrant violation of its Constitutive Act by the Kingdom of Morocco, by its aggression against the borders inherited at independence and its use of force to seize parts of the territory of the Sahrawi Republic, a founding member of the continental organization.
In this context, at the European level, the Polisario Front insisted on the need to adhere to international law, international humanitarian law and European law, and to refrain from signing any agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco that affects the territory of Western Sahara.
In this regard, it expressed deep concern at the frequent reports of corruption and money-buying operations in which the Moroccan occupation state implicated parties within European institutions to turn a blind eye to its colonial practices and gross violations of human rights.
