Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps) June 13, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi Union of Jurists has strongly denounced neglect of the Moroccan authorities to the demands of the six Saharawi political prisoners currently in hunger strike since two months in Goulimime prison (southern Morocco).
In a statement reached Monday SPS, The Union expressed “deep concern” on the serious health of the six Saharawi hunger strikers in the Goulimime prison.
The statement called on the group to temporarily suspend their open hunger strike and use other parallel peaceful ways to maintain their physical and mental health in order to avoid tragedies.
The Union held Moroccan state full responsibility for lives of all the Saharawi hunger strikers in the Goulimime prison, expressing solidarity with the group and their families.
It also appealed to the international organizations of human rights for the immediate intervention to save lives of the group and their colleagues.
the Saharawi jurists reaffirmed their solidarity with all the Saharawi human rights activists and political detainees, calling on the Moroccan government to immediately and unconditionally release all the Saharawi political prisoners as well as reveal the fate of the Saharawi missings, in addition to open the occupied territory of Western Sahara to the international observers, media and parliamentarians.
