Ordinary session of AU Permanent Representatives Committee concludes in Equatorial Guinea

Malabo, June 25, 2011 (SPS) - The 22nd ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (COREP) of the African Union concluded Friday in the capital of Equatorial Guinea, Malabo.

The opening session was attended by Equatorial Guinea's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophone Affairs as well as Executive Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the AU, Mr. Pastor Micha, President of the AU Commission, Mr. Jean Ping, and AU eight commissioners, in addition to African and international observers as well as diplomatic corps accredited to Malabo.

The Representatives  shared for two days  views on a number of reports, including reports of AU organs and constitutions, and preparation  for the 19th ordinary session of the AU Executive Council to be held from June 26-28, 2011 in Malabo.

The Saharawi Republic (SADR) was presented in the meeting by its Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar.

Equatorial Guinea will host from June 30 to July 1 the 17th ordinary session of AU heads of state and government under the theme: “accelerating youth empowerment for sustainable development.” (SPS)
