Bir Lehlou (liberated territories) Sept 5, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, addressed Sunday a letter of condolence to his Cuban counterpart, Mr. Raúl Castro Ruz, on death of the General Julio Casas Regueiro, minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).
“We have received with deep sorrow the sad news of death of the General of Army Corps, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and Vice-President of the State Council, the companion Julio Casas Regueiro, on September 3, 2011,” said the letter.
The President Mohamed Abdelaziz expressed the profound condolences of the government and people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to the brotherly people of Cuba, Communist party and family of the deceased.
He pointed out that the Saharawi people who share traditional ties of friendship, history and cultures with the people of Cuba “can not but stand by your side in this difficult moment"
The deceased Regueiro, General of Army Corps, died Saturday due to heart attack. He was a member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party and vice-president of the State Council.
He had served as a chief of the Eastern Army, Air Defense troops, substitute minister for economic activity and first deputy minister of the FAR. He was appointed minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) in 2008. (SPS)
