Piombino conference demands the immediate application of UN resolutions on Saharawis right to self-determination

Piombino (Italy), Sept 26, 2011 (SPS) - The international conference of the towns supporting the Saharawi people, which took place in Toscana (Italy) on Sept 24-26, has demanded the immediate application of the UN resolutions concerning right of self-determination of the Saharawi people.

In it final statement, the Conference called for the unconditional release of all the Saharawi political detainees, stop looting of the Saharawi natural resources and put an end to all trade agreements signed with Morocco.

It also condemned the human rights violations in the occupied Western Sahara, urging Morocco to immediately halt its repressive policies against the Saharawi population.

The Conference called for strengthening the cooperation with the Saharawi people, confirming continued support to the Saharawis struggle until recovering their legitimate rights.

The fourth conference of towns supporting the Saharawi people will be held next year in Spain, the statement revealed. (SPS)
