Brussels, October 7, 2011 (SPS) - The Intergroup Peace for Sahrawi People in the European Parliament has urged the European Parliament to send a fact-finding mission to investigate the crimes committed recently by Morocco against the Saharawi people in the occupied city of Dakhla, Western Sahara.

“The EU must send a fact-finding mission to Dakhla to investigate. The EU cannot and must not simply give credence to Moroccan propaganda and distortions of the facts of what has happened in the last few days.  The European Union cannot allow double standards on human rights to apply in its neighgbourhood,” the Intergroup said in a statement issued Wednesday.

The Intergroup strongly condemned the recent attacks in Dakhla and asked Morocco to cease immediately its repression of civilians.

The Intergroup expressed its condolences to the families of all the victims of this violence. (SPS)
