Tifariti (liberated territories), Dec 16, 2011 (SPS) - The Spokesman of the Polisario 13th Congress’s Presidency, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, underlined that the Congress is “an important milestone of the ratification on a range of rules to determine the course of the Saharawi cause for the next four years.”

In a press conference held Friday evening on the sidelines of the Polisario 13the Congress, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar indicated that the Congress “is being held in sensitive circumstances characterized by a failure in the peaceful course of the conflict and continuation of human rights violations in the Saharawi occupied territories.

“Delegates at the Congress will examine the creation of a new ways to continue the peaceful struggle in the occupied land and raising the readiness of the Saharawi military, because the option of returning to armed struggle remains at hand whilst the international community’s failure to find peaceful solution guaranteeing right of the Saharawi people to self-determination,” the spokesman added.

He also applauded the comprehensive mass participation in the Congress which “reflects the adherence of the Saharawis to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguiet Al Hamra and Rio de Oro (POLISARIO), as a legitimate and sole representative.”

With regard to what has been heard of Moroccan attempts to disrupt on the Congress, the Saharawi ambassador said “we have been habited on previous occasions with such practices by our enemy, which intends to tarnish image of the Saharawi people. Our concern is that our Congress passes in normal form.”

It should be recalled that the 2nd day marked by the discussion of the moral and financial reports presented by the President Mohamed Abdelziz and Mohamed Lamin Ahmed. (SPS)
