Tifariti (liberated territories) Dec 17, 2011 (SPS) - Representative of the French Association of Solidarity with the Saharawi people, Pierre Toutin, called to the 13th Congress of the Polisario Front to "work to break the silence surrounding the question of Western Sahara", in address before the thirteen congress of thr Polisario Front
Mr. Toutin reaffirmed the constant position of his association in supporting the legitimate right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.
He also condemned the systematic repression committed by reactionary regime in Morocco against Saharawi defenceless citizens, stressing the need for establishment of a mechanism to protect and monitor human rights in occupied territories as well as increasing humanitarian aid for Sahrawi refugees.
Mr. Toutin also unveiled the creation of the website "write for their release" to raise the awareness about Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails
He also called on media to inform public opinion in France about the reality of the Western Sahara conflict which is unknown in France because of its position in endorsing Moroccan occupation. (SPS)
