Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), Dec 31, 2011 (SPS) - The Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, organized Friday night at the guest house “Hosein Tamek” a farewell ceremony in honor of Mr. Mohammad Arif, Director, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Sahrawi refugees camps, after the end of his duties.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Saharawi National Secretariat and Government as well as representatives of international NGOs working in the Saharawi refugee camps.

Prime Minister praised the professionalism that characterized the work of Mr. Arif and his dedication in the service of the Sahrawi refugees.

From his part, Mr. Arif emphasized “he is very impressed by the suffering of the Sahrawi refugees, a suffering that lasted for more than thirty-five years,” highlighting that the UNHCR cover only a few of the essential needs of these refugees.

He also urged his colleagues to work in sincerity and perseverance in order to reduce this suffering, through the full coordination with the Saharawi authorities. (SPS)
