President of Republic arrives in Johannesburg to participate in the celebrations of ANC’s centenary

Johannesburg (South Africa), January 7, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa, leading a high level delegation to take part in the celebrations of the 100-Year Anniversary of the establishment of the African National Congress (ANC) on January 8, 1912, at an official invitation by Mr. Jacob Zuma, President of South African Republic, according to a source from the Presidency.

The President of the Republic is accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beisat, minister delegate in charge of Latin America, Mr. Brahim Boumakhrouta, minister delegate in charge of Africa and Mr. Abdati Breika, counselor to the Presidency of the Republic.

The international event will be attended by more than 100000 guests including heads of state and government, political parties, parliamentarians, regional and international organizations, in addition to political, cultural and media figures.

It has been confirmed that over 40 African heads of state and government are scheduled to participate in the party’s centennial celebrations this weekend.

The African National Congress has been in power since May 10, 1994 after decades of struggle against the racial Apartheid system. (SPS)
