Seville (Spain), Feb 5, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, said Saturday in Seville “the Frente Polisario exactly knows the identity of the kidnappers of the three European aid workers from Shaheed Al-Hafed, Saharawi refugee camps, on Oct 22, 2011.”

The President Mohamed Abdelaziz confirmed, in a press conference on the sidelines of the 37th European Coordination Conference of Support to the Sahrawi Saharawi People (EUCOCO), that the Polisario Front “exactly know the identity of the abductors of the three European nationals working in the humanitarian field in the Saharawi refugee camps.”

“We know exactly identity of the group behind this terrorist act, which is the first of its kind in the Saharawi refugee camps,” he added, refusing to give information about this terrorist group to save, as said, lives of the three victims.

After he assured that the efforts are being made on the ground in order to free the three hostages, he explained that the group which made such act “came from Khalil’s area, located northeast of Mali.”

He on other hand described the relations between the Polisario and Mali as “the excellent,” recalling in the same regard to the letter sent last December by the President of Mali, Mr. Amadou Toumani Toure, to the Polisario leadership, where re-affirmed the recognition of Mali to the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and allowed the Saharawi People’s Liberation Army to fight against terrorism and organized crime within its national territory.

Whilst he considered that the strategy adopted by countries of the region (Algeria, Mauritania, Mali and Niger) to fight against terrorism “represents a model in this context,” he assured that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), as a member of the African Union, is a party to African Union Convention on Combatting Terrorism.”

It is worth noting that the three European hostages are: Ainhoa Fernandez de Rincon and Enric Gonyalons from Spain as well as Rossella Urru, Italian national. (SPS)
