SADR participates at meeting on the millennium development goals and challenges in Africa

Addis Ababa, March 9, 2012 (SPS) - A delegation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) has take part at a meeting of the experts of finance and economy of the African Union States, United Nation’s Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), African Development Bank and UN Development Programme, held on March 7-8, 2012 in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The meeting focused on the millennium goals of development and the challenges facing Africa.

The Saharawi delegation included the delegate of the Finance’s Public Administration, Mohamed Fadel Salama, members of the staff of SADR Embassy in Addis Ababa, in addition to the permanent mission of SADR to the AU.

The experts examined, during two days of deliberations, the 2012 Report on Assessing Progress towards the Millennium Development Goals in Africa, listening to reports presented by international economic institutions on various topics such as: reducing the levels of poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, empowering women, improving maternal health, reducing the mortality rates among children, fighting the AIDS, Malaria and some other deadly epidemics as well as developing the comprehensive development partnership.

The meetings comes as a preparation for the joint meeting of the ministers of finance and economy of the African Union States and United Nation’s Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), which will be held on March 24 to 27, 2012 in Ethiopia. (SPS)
