International demonstration against Moroccan shame wall in Western Sahara on Friday

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), April 1, 2012 (SPS) - “The fifth edition of the annual international demonstration against the Moroccan wall of shame, formerly known as the human thousand series, will be held Friday with the participation of more than 1200 individuals including Saharawis, foreign cooperators and representatives of international NGOs,” revealed Sunday the Secretary General of Saharawi Youth Union (UJSARIO), Mr. Mousa Selma.

Speaking to SPS, Mr. Mousa Selma said that this year edition will be attended by figures from U.S., Germany, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, Chile and others, also representatives of various Spanish provinces and for the first time Saharawi victims of war and mines are expected to take part.

He added that the foreign participants have begun to arrive in the Saharawi refugee camps since last Friday within special flights include Spanish cooperators and families with the Saharawi people, whereas a second flight landed Saturday night, and a third flight expected to arrive next Wednesday.

Land Mine Action Organization, which working to remove mines from parts of occupied Western Sahara, and in collaboration with the Saharawi Association of Victims of War will organize Wednesday an exhibition, presenting a lecture and screening a video about the Berm marking the occasion, the same source added.

The demonstration aims to denounce the Moroccan military wall that divides the people and territory of Western Sahara and urge the international community to work for removing it, because it is a crime against humanity and a shame on face of the Moroccan occupation regime. (SPS)
