Saharawi presidential delegation holds various meetings in South Africa

Johannesburg, May 26, 2012 (SPS) - On the sidelines of its participation at the Global African Diaspora Summit that wrapped out Friday in South Africa, the Saharawi presidential delegation held several meetings with heads of state, government and delegation, according to a source close to the delegation.


President of the Republic met with the President to South Africa, Mr. Jacob Zuma, President of Benin and African Union, Dr. Thomas Yayi Boni, President of South Sudan Republic, Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of Somalia, Mr. Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, and King of Swaziland, Mswati III, in addition to heads of various delegations including Cuban vice-president, PM of Guiana, Foreign Ministers of Uruguay and Paraguay, as well as a number of former African presidents such as the South African Thabo Mbeki, Nigerian Olusegun Obasanjo and Namibian Olusegun Sam Nujoma.


In relevant context, the delegation that accompanies the President Mohamed Abdelaziz also held meetings with a number of officials.


Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met his counterpart of South Africa.


Mr. Brahim Boumakhruta, Minister Delegate for Africa, met a number of ministers and heads of delegations including the foreign ministers of Zambia and Tanzania.


During these meetings, interlocutors of the Saharawi presidential delegation renewed their countries commitment to develop the bonds of friendship and cooperation with the Saharawi Republic as to support right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, the source said.


The delegation had taken part at works of the Global African Diaspora Summit, which wrapped out Friday with the ratification on a plan of action and final communiqué.


President Mohamed Abdelaziz is accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Foreign Minister, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beisat, Minister for Latin America, Ms. Fatma Mehdi, Secretary General of Saharawi Woman Union, Mr. Brahim Boumakhruta, Minister Delegate for Africa, Mr. Abdati Breika, Counselor to the Presidency, Mr. Salha Al-Abd, Ambassador to South Africa, as well as Saharawi group in African Parliament: Wadadi Sheikh, Mohamed Lhaiba, Salma Beiruk and Jamal Bandir.
