Bir Lehlou( Liberated Territories), May 31, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, has urged King of Saudi Arabia to intercede with king of Morocco to put an end to the Western Sahara conflict and the suffering of the Saharawi people and the Moroccans.
“I address you to ask upon You Majesty to intercede with King Mohammed VI to stop prolonging the conflict and the suffering of both peoples the Saharawis and Moroccans, and to begin seriously negotiating with us on the basis of the agreements signed with his father the late, King Hassan II, in order to reach a solution enabling Saharawi people to decide their future through free and transparent self-determination referendum in accordance with UN Charter and resolutions, "wrote President Mohamed Abdelaziz on Thursday to the King of Saudi Arabia.
The President said that Morocco since the beginning of the conflict in 1975, has failed to fulfill its obligations, particularly, in regards to self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people.
The President of the Republic recalled the leading rule of the late King Fahd Bin Abdel Aziz in persuading the late King Hassan II to listen to the calls of the international community through accepting referendum of self-determination
President Mohamed Abdelaziz said history has proved that the Saharawis are great with their just case.
Furthermore, He said that the Polisario Front has given too many concessions but will not abandon struggling for respecting the right of Saharawi people to self-determination.
He pointed out that the so called "the Moroccan autonomy plan" could not be considered as compromise solution and will not contribute in finding an outlet to the conflict.
“The Polisario Front is ready to accept any result emerges from the a self-determination referendum including to live under the sovereignty of Morocco, if it’s the desire of the Saharawi people” said the President in his letter.
He highlighted the systematic abuses committed by Morocco against the Saharawi civilians and the cruel conditions living by the Saharawi refugees.
The President, finally, expressed hope for reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict.(SPS)
