Algerian caravan of humanitarian aid recieved at headquarters of Saharawi Red Crescent

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), July 14, 2012 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the Saharawi Presidency, Mr. Daf Mohamed Fadel, oversaw Saturday at headquarters of the Saharawi Red Crescent the delivering of an Algerian caravan of humanitarian aid provided for the benefit of the Saharawi refugees.


The Caravan has been delivered by Vice-President of the Algerian Red Crescent, Mr. Khaled Boudiaf.


The Saharawi official expressed thanks and gratitude of the Saharawi to Algeria, people and government, and through it to the Algerian Red Crescent for providing such assistance, adding that Algeria “has been accompanying the Saharawi people in all the difficulties they face since they invaded by Morocco.”


“We cannot forget Algerian state and civil society’s stand in the side of the Saharawi people in their struggle,” said Mr. Daf, valuing the Algerian Red Crescent’s support to the Saharawi people especially during the rainfalls of 1979, 1994 and 2006.


From his part, Mr. Boudiaf pointed out that this caravan is organized by the Algerian Red Crescent and National Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi People marking the 50th anniversary of the independence of Algeria, and comes on the eve of Ramadan’s holy month.


He also pointed out that this caravan comes in the context of improving the level of food basket of the Saharawi refugees during Ramadan, adding “this what the Algerian Red Crescent Institution has been working since 3 years.”


He also underlined that the caravan bears the name “Caravan of Independence”, which started from July 5th Stadium in the capital Algiers three days ago.
The caravan composed of more than 60 trucks carrying about 1000 ton of Arena, 130 ton of sugar, 50 ton of rice, 3000 children milk’s cans and 1000 school bags for the benefit of Saharawi pupils, revealed Vice-President of Algerian Red Crescent. (SPS)
