Madrid must actively engage in search for settlement to Western Sahara conflict, says Spanish official

Extremadura (Spain), July 27, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Parliament of Extremadura, Mr. Fernando Manzano, called Thursday on the Government of Spain “to actively engage” in the search for a settlement to the conflict of Western Sahara, during a reception Polisario Front’s delegation led by National Council President Mr. Khatri Addouh and in the presence of a number of Sahrawi children who spend the summer holiday in the Province.


“The Spanish Government should act through the European Union and actively engage in the search for a final solution to the conflict of Western Sahara,” said Mr. Manzano.


The President of the Parliament of Extremadura also expressed concern about the Saharawis and the issue of respecting human rights anywhere in the world.


The delegation, which is chaired by President of the Saharawi National Council Mr. Khatri Addouh, composed of the Presidents of Saharawi Parliament’s Information and Foreign Relations as well as social affairs Committee, in addition to the POLISARIO Representative to Spain Mr. Bachraya Bayun and POLISARIO Delegate in Extremadura Alali Al-Mami.
