Moroccan authorities of occupation arrest Saharawi journalist

El Aaiun (occupied territories), July 31, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi journalist Abdrabu Badi was arrested late in yesterday’s night by Moroccan policemen wearing civil clothes in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, informed the Executive Office of the Collective of Saharawi Defenders of Human Rights (CODESA).


The journalist exposed along with a colleague to strict inspection and harassment by Moroccan policemen, to be arrested later without specific charges against him or even know the reasons behind his sudden arrest.


Abdrabu was arrested because of his journalist actions, especially after he accomplished documentaries documenting the political and military conflict of Western Sahara between the Polisario Front and Morocco, and monitor the most of the gross violations of human rights violations committed by the Moroccan State against Sahrawi civilians.


The Saharawi journalist was subject to harassment and inspection inside the airport of El Aaiun, after he returned beck from a visit to the Saharawi refugee camps along with a group of Saharawi citizens and human rights activists. (SPS)
