Saharawi delegation takes part at regional seminar of African Court on Human Peoples’ Rights

Addis Ababa, August 24, 2012 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation is participating at the regional seminar of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights taking place in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, holding under the motto: “the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights: your new partner in strengthening the protection of human rights in Africa.”


The delegation includes Mr. Baba Mahfud, from the Saharawi Embassy in Addis Ababa, and Mohamed Hallab, from the Association of Families of the Saharawi Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA).


The seminar is attended by delegates from all African countries, especially from north and east of the continent.


In a lecture presenting on the seminar, a UN Delegate at African Union Commission Ms. Brigitte Onno spoke about the Western Sahara cause, recalling to the presence of a Saharawi delegation at works of the seminar.


Delegates emphasized on the need to promote and maintain human rights and democracy in Africa.


The seminar is expected to close on Friday, 24 August 2012 with the adoption of conclusions that will express the commitment of all the stakeholders in the promotion of the Court. (SPS)
