Submitted on

Madrid, Oct 5, 2012 (SPS) - The Parliament of Aragon’s Spanish Province approved Thursday a motion, in which it insisted on the need to require the respect for human rights in Western Sahara by Morocco in any new agreement between Morocco and European Union, informed POLISARIO Office in Aragon.

Serious and in-depth discussions between the political parties were occurred at Aragon’s Parliament hall on the economic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, with regard to Western Sahara fisheries.

According to the international law, in the case of proceeding to negotiate fishing agreement between the two sides, there should be limited to the Moroccan territorial waters, and exclude Western Sahara territorial waters, asserted the motion.

The parliamentary motion indicated that any negotiations on Western Sahara natural wealth should be conducted directly with representatives of the Saharawi people.

It therefore called on the government of Aragon, Spanish central government and European institutions to seek to reach a solution to the Western Sahara conflict in line with international legitimacy and path of decolonization. (SPS)
