London (UK) March28, 2013(SPS) the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Mr. Alistair Burt, on Tuesday reiterated his Country’s position of supporting the Saharawi People’s right to self-determination.
“We strongly support UN-led efforts to encourage agreement on a long-lasting and mutually-acceptable political solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.” he said in written answers to questions raised at Westminster Parliament by Mr. Mark William from Liberal Democrat.
On another hand the Secretary of state confirmed that his country “welcomes the report of the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Mr. Juan Mendez,” adding that they will raise their concerns about human rights with Moroccan Authorities in “frank and open dialogue.”(SPS)
