Shahid Alhafed, March29, 2013(SPS) Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Coordinator with the MINURSO, Mhamed Khadad , on Thursday received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara and Head of MINURSO, Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber.
The conversations between the two parties focused on the situation in Western Sahara and the efforts of the United Nations to solve the conflict on bases of the UN resolutions.
In a statement to the media the Special Representative Wolfgang, said that this visit “comes within the framework of his periodic visits which he tries to be frequent as possible to meet with the leadership of the Polisario Front,”
“Since latest visit to the Saharawi refugee camps some important developments have been happened in particularly what last few weeks witnessed as the visit of the UN Secretary General’s personal envoy Christopher Ross.” he said, adding that his visit is important for the preparation of the meeting of the Security Council on Western Sahara next month.
For his part M’hamed Khadad indicated that the special Representative with the Personal envoy will together present on April to the Security Council a comprehensive report on developments of the Western Sahara issue.
“The usual presence of Mr. Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber, in a territory still under direct responsibility of the United Nations could help to aware the Security Council on the deteriorating situation of the civilians Saharawi and Moroccan violations of human rights in the occupied Western Sahara,” said Khadad.
