US Congress, NGOs meet with Algerian Commission of Solidarity with Sahrawi People

WASHINGTON ,May 16, 2013 (SPS) – A delegation of the Algerian National Commission of Solidarity with Sahrawi People (CNASPS) was received Tuesday in Washington (USA) by members of the US Congress and US NGOs which support the Sahrawi cause, as part of a visit that will continue in New York and Boston.

 

 

The Algerian delegation, composed of CNASPS’ Vice-president Tayeb Zitouni and a member of the commission Hassiba Boulmerka, met successively democrat and republican members of the House of Representatives, in addition to Chair of US-Western Sahara Foundation Suzanne Scholte and Advocacy Director of RF Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Marselha Goncalves Mergerin.

 

During these meetings, Tayeb Zitouni hailed these members’ efforts to support Sahrawi people,” recalling the US government project initiated recently for the introduction of the monitoring of human rights within the MINURSO mandate at the level of the Security Council.(SPS)
