Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), June 16, 2013 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz has sent a letter of congratulation to Dr. Hassan Rohani, the President-elect of the Islamic Republic of Iran, following his victory in Friday’s election.
“I am pleased to extend, on behalf of the government and people of the Saharawi Republic, sincere and heartfelt congratulations to you and to the brotherly people of Iran as a whole, on the occasion of your victory in the successful presidential election that took place in the Islamic Republic of Iran on this Friday, 14 June 2013,” wrote the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, in his letter to the President-elect of Iran Dr. Hassan Rohani.
The Saharawi President said that the outstanding result Dr. Rohani got in this election reflects the appreciation and confidence entrusted by the brotherly people of Iran in his ability to meet the current and future challenges with a strong will, wisdom and moderation,
This, stated the letter, prepared him to lead the Islamic Republic of Iran with a new will, based on your enlightened thinking and deep experience as a statesman, who experienced the management for many years.
“The Saharawi people, which is waging a just and legitimate struggle for freedom and dignity, look honestly to consolidate the relations of brotherhood and friendship with his brotherly people of Iran, on the basis of our common universal values, especially the link of true Islamic religion and its tolerant principles that call for tolerance, justice, peace and unity as well as supporting the right and helping those oppressed,” President Mohamed Abdelaziz.
According to the Iranian Interior Ministry, Dr. Hassan Rohani won outright with 18.6mn votes, 50.68% of the votes casted in Friday’s election.
Hassan Rohani, who was born on 12 November 1948, is an Iranian politician, lawyer and diplomat. He has been a member of the Assembly of Experts since 1999, member of the Expediency Council since 199i, member of the Supreme National Security Council since 1989, and head of the Center for Strategic Research since 1992.
