Boumerdes (Algeria), Aug 17, 2013 (SPS) - The fourth edition of the Summer University of Saharawi cadres kicked off Wednesday in Boumerdes, 50-km east of Algiers, bringing together 400 participants representing the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), in addition to Algerian civil society members and international human rights activists.
Organized under the banner “the Saharawi state is the solution”, this edition opened Wednesday in the presence of Mr. Bachir Mustapha Sayad, Head of Polisario’s National Secretariat Political Organization, Ms. Mariem Salek Hmada, Minister of Education and President of this University, as well as a number of Saharawi ministers and officials.
A delegation includes cadres of the Saharawi Republic from the refugee camps and occupied territories also present at the event.
The University is also attended by representatives of Algerian civil society organizations and political parties, in addition to representatives of international human rights organizations.
The event is witnessing various lectures on several topics including the peoples’ right to self-determination, illegal exploitation of Saharawi natural resources and situation of human rights in the occupied Western Sahara. (SPS)
