John Kerry’s visit to Algeria postponed by mutual agreement

Algiers, November 10, 2013 (SPS) - The visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry was due to pay to Algeria has been postponed by mutual agreement," said Friday the Foreign Affairs ministry’s spokesman, Amar Belani.

 

"Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra received Friday afternoon a phone call from US Secretary of State John Kerry, who told him that President Barack Obama asked him to go to Geneva as part of the ongoing negotiations on the Iranian nuclear programme," Belani said.

 

"The US Secretary of State will have to go back to Washington, from Geneva, to present a report to President Obama and discuss with the Congress about the developments relating to the Iranian nuclear file."

 

The American side underlined that "all the stages of Secretary of State’s trip, which were scheduled for the coming days, have been postponed."

 

Lamamra and Kerry agreed to postpone the second session of Algeria-US strategic dialogue for the coming weeks. (SPS)
