Algiers, Dec 17, 2013 (SPS) - Algeria and France have expressed “satisfaction for the constancy of international community´s commitment to the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara,” in the final communique of the 1st meeting of Algerian-French High-Level Inter-governmental committe, held from 16 to 17 December in Algiers.
In a statement signed by Algeria´s Prime Minister Mr. Abdelmalek Sellal and his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayra, the two countries expressed “their satisfaction vis-à-vis the constancy of the UN and international community´s commitment to find a just and sustainable settelemtn, based on a mutually agreed upon political solution which provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara, in accordance with the principles and objectives of the UN Charter, as well as the resolutions of the General Assembly and Security Council.”
The two countries, in this context, continue to support the efforts of Mr. Christopher Ross, the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, added the communique.
They, on other hand, stressed the need to strictly combat terrorism and transnational organized crime, especially drug trafficking in the Sahel region. (SPS)
