AU Executive Council’s 24th session underway in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, Jan 28, 2014 (SPS) - The 24th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union continue its work for the second day, at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa.


This meeting is attended by a Saharawi delegation led by Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salekm, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and composed of Mr. Hamdi Beiha, Minister Delegate for Africa, Mr. Lamine Baali, Permanent Representative to the AU and Ambassador in Ethiopia, Ms. Maluma Larabas, Head of the Parliament’s external relations committee, Mr. Baba Al-Bardi, First Secretary of SADR embassy in Addis Ababa, and Ms. Mariem Muhamadu, from the Saharawi embassy.


During its two day session, AU Executive Council will hear the annual report of the Council for the year 2013, and consider the progress report of the African Union Commission on the Africa 2063 Agenda and other items adopted by the Council.


The Council is scheduled to elect new members for AU’s Peace and Security Council, as to prepare the agenda for the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, to be held later this week. (SPS)
