Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), Feb 12, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz has demanded an “urgent action” by the UN to stop Morocco’s gross human rights violations against the Saharawi people, and free all Saharawi political prisoners.

In a letter addressed today, Wednesday, to the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the President of the Republic requested the UN to take “urgent measures” to carry Moroccan occupying authorities to stop its violations of human rights, as to annul the unfair sentences pronounced by Moroccan military court against the Gdeim Izik detainees.

President Mohamed Abdelaziz, in the same regard, urged the UN to act to prevent Morocco from bringing the Saharawi activist, Mbarek Daoudi, before the same military court.

“The scenes of beating, kicking and lynching against the innocent Saharawi citizens reflect an aggressive will from the part of Moroccan occupying authorities to continue to commit grave violations of human rights,” writes the Saharawi President, in his letter to the UN Chief.

The letter highlighted that such heinous practices being perpetuated on an international territory, still under UN direct responsibility, directly represented by its Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara, known as the MINURSO.

The President of the Republic went on saying that there would be no UN serious and responsible efforts, while Moroccan occupying authorities continue to ignore international law and escalate its brutal repression against innocent Saharawis. (SPS)
