President arrives in Abuja for international summit on Human Security

Abuja, Feb 26, 2014 (SPS) - At an official invitation by his Nigerian counterpart H.E. Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz arrived today, Wednesday, in Abuja, capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to take part at an international summit on human security, peace and development, to be convened tomorrow.


The President of the Republic and the delegation accompanying him were received by senior officials in the Nigerian state, including Dr. Nuruddeen Mohammed, minister of state for foreign affairs, and Mr. Sylvester Nonye, special advisor to the President Goodluck Jonathan.


According to a paper published by the Nigerian government, the summit, to be held on the theme “Human Security, Peace and Development: Agenda for 21st Century Africa”, coincides with Nigeria’s centenary celebrations.


This one-day summit will be followed by major official celebrations commemorating the 100-year anniversary of Nigeria’s existence as a nation, expected to be attended by large international participation.


The President Mohamed Abdelaziz is accompanied in his visit to Nigeria by a delegation comprising of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, minister of foreign affairs, Mr. Abbi Bachraya Bachir, ambassador in Nigeria, and Mr. Abdati Breika, advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, and Lehbib Ali Salem, first secretary at the embassy in Abuja.
