Polisario Front renews call for protection of human rights in occupied territories of Western Sahara

Bir Lehlu ( liberated territories) , March 9, 2014 (SPS) The Polisario Front has reiterated call for the international community to intervene immediately and take the necessary measures and sanctions against Morocco in order to comply with the international law and respect human rights in Western Sahara.
 
In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki -moon , President of the Republic Secretary General of the Polisario front Mohamed Abdelaziz condemned the inhumane practices of the Moroccan authorities against Sahrawi  women who peacefully demonstrate for their right to self-determination in a territory under the UN responsibility represented on the ground by MINURSO, pending the completion of the decolonization process through a fair referendum under the auspices of the UN.
 
"This behavior demonstrates a real lack of commitment on the part of the Moroccan state of occupation to progress towards a just solution to the Western Sahara conflict, which does not contribute to peace efforts and hinder the work of the Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, "lamented the President of the Republic. 
 
He also called for the establishment of a UN mechanism for the protection and monitoring of human rights in Western Sahara, pending a just and lasting solution to the conflict in Western Sahara. 
 
 A peaceful demonstration to mark International Women's Day was brutally repressed by the Moroccan forces Saturday in El Aaiun, leaving at least 40 casualties, it should be recalled. (SPS)
