Morocco's expansionist policy, drugs, main threats to peace, stability in Maghreb

Submitted on

Boumerdes (Algeria), August 13, 2014 (SPS) - Morocco's expansionist policy and drug exportation are the main threats to peace and stability in the Maghreb, said the secretary of state for Documentation and Security Brahim Mohamed Mahmoud.

"Morocco's expansionism to the detriment of the neighbouring countries had, in the past, largely contributed to encouraging foreign occupation of Maghreb countries," and has now "paved the way to foreign interference in the internal affairs of some countries," the Saharawi minister said in a conference.

Mahmoud's conference, entitled "Security Threats in the Maghreb Region," was held as part of the summer university of Saharawi state officials in the province of Boumerdes (50-km east of Algiers).

Morocco "violates African and international custom consisting in respecting the borders inherited from colonization." (SPS)
