IAJUWS: UN must resort to Chapter VII to carry Morocco to comply with international law

Submitted on

New York, Oct 9, 2014 (SPS) - International Association of Jurists for Western Sahara (IAJUWS) said the United Nations is obliged before this unjust situation in Western Sahara to force the Kingdom of Morocco to comply with international law, including if necessary recourse to Chapter VII of the UN Charter.

Speaking Thursday before the UN Decolonization Committee on behalf of the IAJUWS, José Revert Calabuig said the UN must resort to the pursuit of “a just, lasting and definitive political solution to the question of Western Sahara” and not to an equidistant position apparently gives Morocco nonexistent rights on a territory that does not belong to it.
