39th International Conference of EUCOCO 2014 opens in Madrid

Madrid, November 14, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, will inaugurate, Friday evening at the Faculty of Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, the 39th European Conference for coordination of support and solidarity with the Saharawi people (EUCOCO).

 

Besides the President of the Republic, the Conference willbe attended by Sahrawi government officials and Sahrawi ambassadors and delegates in other countries, in addition to human rights activists and defenders.

 

Saturday will be devoted to workshops and working groups on Policy and Information, Human Rights and Occupied Territories, Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Natural Resources, Women, Youth, Culture and Sports.

 

There will also be speeches of international delegations and personalities before closing the conference with the presentation of the findings of the workshops and working groups, and the reading of the Final Declaration of the EUCOCO 2014 bearing the name of Madrid Declaration.

 

 The EUCOCO is the most important annual event of the European Movement of Solidarity with the Saharawi People, which has slowly gained a global dimension where delegates from the 5 continents are participating.

 

Participating  also in the EUCOCO 2014, representatives of governments that recognize the SADR, national and international elected representatives and officials, regional governments, deputies and city councils of the Spanish State, Political organization and Trade Unions, Associations of Friendship with the Saharawi people, NGOs in general , jurists and personalities in the field of culture.

 

The Spanish capital, characterized by its hospitality and diversity, will be a point of a decisive encounter in the effort of the international community to advance the peaceful resolution of conflict, coordinating support for the Saharawi people in their path to freedom, say organizers the Conference.
